About Gurrumurru

History

Gurrumurru is located on the ancestral land of the Dhalwaŋu people. This well organised, culturally strong and cohesive coastal community enjoy fertile land with an excellent water supply. Fish, turtle and shellfish, as well as bush foods such as wallaby, buffalo and yams are a significant part of the local diet.

  • Travel time from Yirralka in 4X4 – approx. 3-3.5 hours, depending on weather and road conditions
  • 4X4 is required to reach the homeland
